This week the U.S army chose Austin over ten other cities to establish their new “Future

Commands Center”.  Austin had stiff completion from Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, and Seattle.  The army chose Austin over these other notable contenders because of the same reasons that businesses do so.  Those reasons include affordable housing (compared to the other cities) access to a major university, the University of Texas mainly, a high tech city, and quality of life.  The Commands Center will focus on modernizing the army and developing new technologies and will employ 500 people.
